Residential Contract Providers
General Information
Our contracted community partners provide specialized services and treatment options for half of DYS committed youth on any given day. These programs allow DYS to provide a continuum of services in various settings and security levels to meet the needs of youth placed in our custody. Programs includes: gender-specific programs for females, drug and alcohol treatment for males and females, and services designed for low functioning youth. Settings include: secure and non-secure residential treatment centers and group homes. DYS staff (Service Monitors) work with our contracted partners to insure adherence to program goals, compliance with DYS Policy, and offer technical assistance when needed.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Voyages program offers structure, treatment, awareness, redirection, and support, which is where the facility gets its name STARS. The Voyages program treatment plan is based upon Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). The overall goal of the Voyages program is for each youth referred to develop a level of responsibility. This includes educational skills, decision making skills, social building skill, and a plan of intervention during their referral period. The interdisciplinary teams involved in the youth’s treatment plan consist of the referring workers, family members, teachers, residential specialist, social workers, and counselor.

BPT S.O.A.R. is a 16-bed unit residential treatment facility for females in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The program is designed for a population of adjudicated female adolescents 12 to 18 years of age with mental health and delinquent behaviors. BPT S.O.A.R. does not discriminate in placement of students based on race, religion, sex, natural origin, or disabling condition. Our philosophy is that students in our care can benefit from a highly structured, intensively challenging program within a supportive and helpful environment. Our program is designed to provide solutions to students who have avoided responsibility, have low self-esteem, who lack self-discipline and who have never learned pro-social values, but have resorted to gang affiliation, delinquency, and substance abuse, and have lost touch with traditional values and respect for themselves and others.

J. Walter Wood, Jr. Residential Treatment Facility offers a strengths-based, gender-specific treatment program. The trauma-informed approach to rehabilitative services addresses the specific needs of at-risk young women who have been the victims of trauma, abuse, and neglect. Our program offers accredited education, vocational training, social skill development, and employ ability training within a gender-specific environment. Through experienced leadership, quality services, and a research backed approach to residential care, the J. Walter Wood, Jr. Residential Treatment Facility promotes recovery and resiliency, empowering young women to achieve success. Rite of Passage (ROP) serves female youth with a history of delinquent behaviors, academic deficiencies, abuse, neglect and trauma needs, as well as students who did not thrive in less-restrictive settings.
